The Obama administration has finally decided to send 30,000 more troops to Afghanistan and vowed to withdraw from June 2011. The total number of US forces in Afghanistan will reach to 100,000, including this.

It is very interesting to know that more than half of those forces were sent to Afghanistan for war by the person who is the Nobel Prize winner for Peace this year. At the same time it has now become the war of Obama, not of Bush any more.

In his policy speech at Military Academy in New York, US President again put more burden, in the name of cooperation over Pakistan’s shoulder. Pakistan role in war against the terrorism is undeniable and the US administration has attached their success in the war with the cooperation of Pakistan.

US government is putting its pressure over Pakistan in different ways. In this connection, sometime they claim that Osama Bin Ladin and Mullah Umer are in Pakistan while at the same time the Foreign Secretary alleges that Pakistan is not doing well against Al Qaeda.

He further said that the Afghan government must not expect any blank check in future. It is a warning for the Karzai government. The corruption matter in Afghan government is often discussed in Western world and United States and Great Briton were consistently demanding for curbing the menace. But it seems that the Government has no control over those powerful and influential persons, which are said to be inside the government too.

Moreover, the British Prime Minister (who is successfully following the former PM Blair in his American romance) has also demanded the Afghan government to strengthen its own security.

The fast-track policy shows American objectives that they would be unable to prolong the war against Taliban and Al Qaeda as the former President was use to declare that a ‘Long Fight’. Besides United States, NATO has also no intentions to extend their cooperation for a long term.

On the other hand, the cost of war is yet another fact. According to a Pentagon representative, a single soldier will cost one million dollars per year in Afghanistan which means the total cost for 30, 000 troop will be 30 Billion Dollars. So it has no sense to criticize the withdrawal plan and the American must admit the fact.

Some of the American Senators are criticizing the plan of withdrawal drawl as they argue that Taliban and Al Qaeda members would wait for 18 months. But besides this plan, the world was already well aware of the fact that the war in Afghanistan could not be prolonged for a long period as the result of eight long years occupation is there. Afghan President Hamid Karzai has recently again offer Taliban leadership for talks and said that he was ready to meet Mullah Umer for peace. But the Afghan Taliban and it leadership again refused on the ground that they were not ready to negotiate till the presence of foreign troops in Afghanistan; which is looking a sensible and principle stand.

If the occupied forces left Afghanistan, in hurry like the United Sates had already done after the Soviet withdrawal, then the unpopular and powerful warlords will be there again to ruin the destroyed Afghanistan. The world community can play a vital role in negotiation with Afghan Taliban and provide a guideline to lead a government according to the internal rules with the participation of all groups there.

It is the real time for an exit, which might not be possibly a ‘safe’ or ‘respectable’ one.
